FIRST ANNIVERSARY OF THE GULFSTREAM G280’S ENTRY INTO SERVICE

Gulfstream Aerospace Corp first announced the G280 on Oct. 5, 2008, and its first flight took place on Dec. 11, 2009. The flight lasted 3 hours and 21 minutes and the aircraft flew to 32,000 feet or 9,754 meters.

The G280 earned its type certificate from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) on Aug. 30, 2012, while the FAA certified its Enhanced Vision System (EVS) II and Head-Up Display (HUD) II on June 18, 2013.

Likewise, the aircraft earned its certification from the European Aviation Safety Agency on Feb. 7, 2013.

The  G280’s more significant records include flights from Paris to New York in 7 hours and 41 minutes; Savannah to London in 7 hours and 24 minutes; and Honolulu to Savannah in 8 hours and 18 minutes.
